St. Thomas HSS & Senior Secondary School is a co-educational institution founded in the year 2002. It is affiliated to both CBSE & STATE Board syllabus and prepares students for All India School Certificate Examination & HSS examinations. Mr. Santhosh K Thomas is the Chairman and Patron of the school. This school is the brain child of Mr. Jacob Thomas, Manager and Senior Principal of the School. It was inaugurated by Sri. Ganesh Kumar (Honourable Minister of Transport at that time). Initially it was located at Chemmanthoor Junction in Santhosh and Raj Building, owned by the management. The school was relocated in 2006 to a new campus near MLA Road with one main block. It has a serene ambience conducive to learning. It is one of the most architecturally beautiful school campuses in the Kollam District built by Habitat Builders. It has a magnificent and stately appearance.

The School that had its humble beginning with 50 students in 2002 – the year the Thomsian family learnt to keep its initial steps, has now leapt over 1350 students and 100 staff. Recalling the blessings and struggles in coming to the present status of the school, a legacy of acting in faith and courage, leaving the shores of what’s known and comfortable, and pioneering in service to a higher good. May God’s name alone be glorified.” The credibility and social commitment of this institution called for the setting up of a state syllabus scheme for Plus One and Plus Two (Science & Commerce) in 2006.

In 2010 the Lilly Block (To show the love & respect of the Manager towards his Mother) was inaugurated by Mr. Jayamohan (District Panchayat President at that time). The Kindergarten and State Board classes function in this building. Educomp was introduced in 2012 which makes teaching and learning process more attractive, interesting and memorable to meet the latest standards in the field of education. A new international system of education called Xseed was introduced for kindergarten section in 2012. This is an activity oriented system completely different from the traditional rote learning method. It makes learning interesting and permanent – A learning by doing and sensing.

Children are a bundle of possibilities and we help to unveil them. Initiated to the ocean of knowledge we help them to go to the depth and width of it. We act as a catalyst in their thirst for knowledge by developing their mental, physical and intellectual faculties. In 2013 the entrance of the school got a facelift with a new majestic Entrance Complex with our school name and logo engraved on it. Another milestone in the history of St. Thomas School is the inauguration of the Thomsian Radio Club on 3rd November, 2017. This radio programme is presented by the students of classes V to XII. On 23rd November, 2017 was yet another bustle – a grand start of the Math Club to make Math learning easy and fun.

The commendable results in board examinations pinned this school in the list of Top Ranking CBSE Schools in Kollam District. Yet another highlighter is the formation of the Chendamelam troop of girls and boys and that has earned its place in the Thomsian History. Along with the international study system, in 2021 the Kindergarten wing is exposed to the new syllabus “The Learning Bridge – OneLern”. St. Thomas is extensively known for its umpteen co-curricular activities and to pile up the list was the grand opening of the Swimming Pool on 7th September 2019, inaugurated by Adv. K. Raju (Honourable Minister of Forest Department).

To compete with the sudden shift from classrooms to online platform, St. Thomas once again proved distinctively by taking up the challenge at ease. In response to the significant demand, our teachers could all expertise in technological aspects so as to develop strong positive attitude against this uncertain backdrop. We intend to provide the best for our students and hence we incorporated yet another platform, “The Learning Bridge – OneLern”, for the upper primary level, so as to make learning fun and digitalized.

The Facilities we have in our school are: The Math Lab, Physics Lab, Chemistry Lab, Biology Lab, Computer Lab, Robotic Lab, Smart Class, Library with vast collection of books, Skating rink, Basketball court, Cricket ground, a space for Karate & Taekwondo, Archery, Wave board, One-Play Scooter, Dance, All kinds of Indoor games, Roller-skating, a serene place for Music – both vocal & instrumental, Chendamelam, Band Troop and a spacious Auditorium. A separate park for the Kindergarten section and a mini zoo has been setup to create a tranquil environment.

Miracles do take place and Yes! Sometimes dreams do come true… This year we could witness the birth of St. Thomas International School, our new branch, at Kunnicode. It’s not coincidental, but it was in the plan of God that the Thomsians turn over a fresh leaf in its history, in inaugurating the new school building by Sri. K. B. Ganesh Kumar, Honourable Minister for Transport of Kerala, on the 8th of June 2025. It was indeed an honour for the Thomsians as our first school was also inaugurated by the same minister years back. The new school building had a tinge of platinum glow as many dignitaries, parents, staff, students and well – wishers gathered to thank God and bless the newly constructed school building. The sun shone brightly and the new building stood majestically welcoming everyone. As we complete 24 years of service we are highly motivated to go through a continuous process of reflection and hence we work at implementing a well-proportioned curriculum to ensure that the children who walk into the portals of our school will not just love their school years but truly be prepared to face life’s challenges. We strongly believe that learning is accomplished through effective teaching in a caring environment.
