Education is the primary and prominent means for social reformation. The Kothari Commission wrote that the future of India is formed in the present day classrooms. Education should impart the basic vision of values and it must inspire every individual to choose the best choices to make his/her life meaningful and goal orientead. Knowledge that doesn’t convey the vision of values is always dangerous. Our schools should not end up as knowledge imparting centers. If the schools are ‘temples of learning’, they should be ‘life formation centers’. School is not conducted for commercial motives but it is to propagate and inculcate a culture of har mony, love and character formation.
Love is the power of determination in human development. The lack of love is the curbing factor for one’s personality development. If the child is denied proper love and concern from the parents, teachers and others, his/her personality may be totally distorted. Simplicity is the face print of a learned personality. It is a natural and spontaneous internal reality in an educated person. It reflects in word, deed and total personality. Holiness is the real quality of Godliness. The strength and success of life depends upon holiness or purity of life. Holiness promotes exemplary moral, social character and conduct. Obedience is the essential nature of an educated person. St. Thomas School, Punalur upholds and promotes the above said educational values and ideals from the time of its inception. The creative efforts behind this edition of the “Reminiscence XXIII” will enhance the varied talents and capacities of our students. Great appreciation and blessing to all who toiled to prepare this wonderful edition.
